Your hosts Sue & David Holland welcome you to Conchra, built circa 1760 as the seat of the local constable, later became the ancestral home of the McRae's of Eilean Donan Castle, loyal followers of the MacKenzies, Lairds of Kintail and Earls of Seaforth. Conchra (meaning "the sheltered place" in Gaelic) is aptly named as it provides a welcoming haven for visitors enjoying the majestic beauty of the Kintail landscape. Nestling in the shadows of Ben Conchra, it overlooks the everchanging reflections in Loch Long, a place of beauty and romance. In more recent years all the amenities and comforts expected of a fine country house have been discretely added. As a result Conchra makes the perfect base for discovering the dramatic scenery of the West Coast and one of the few places which truly provides the kind of hospitality others boast about. It's accommodation comprises six conveniently sized, cosy bedrooms each enjoying private facilities including the twin rooms ont he econd floor which double up to make an excellent family suite allowing guests that extra degree of privacy. Downstairs, the spacious and tastefully appointed lounge provides hte perfect environment for relaxing and either finishing that book or planning tomorrows adventures besides the crackling log fire. In the morning, the lovely inviting dining room overlooking the loch welcomes you to another fascinating day, beckoning the intrepid explorer to the nearby Falls of Glomach and Five Sisters of Kintail just along the Glen. For the not so energetic, there are a host of historic attractions to visit including Eilean Donan Castile and the Isle of Skye, only 20 minutes away by car. Whatever you choose to do, you are sure to glimpse either a golden eagle, a red deer or an otter or two, or any of the variety of wildlife which inhabits the 2500 acre hill estate surrounding the house.

The Lochcarron Hotel is a family-run hotel standing in a superb loch side position with magnificent mountain and sea views. It is located in the village of Lochcarron in the heart of Wester Ross on the West Coast of mainland Scotland, one of the most beautiful areas of the UK which featured in the recent BBC2 series "Monty Halls' Great Escape". Applecross, where Monty and his dog, Reub, made their home in the series, is only some 18 miles from here and is reached via the spectacular Bealach na Ba, the Pass of the Cattle, views of which appeared several times in the TV series. The hotel has 10 bedrooms, all with private facilities, there is a homely lounge bar with a welcoming open fire and a comfortable restaurant from which there are stunning views across Loch Carron. The hotel is open to non-residents and good food is served in the lounge bar as well as the restaurant. Seafood is a speciality and is locally sourced whenever possible. There is usually a choice of at least 2 traditional real ales served on handpump as well as a wide selection of some 60 single malt whiskies.
